BREAKING : U.K. Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson resigned, deepening a political crisis for Prime Minister Theresa May.

The resignation of Mr. Johnson—a figurehead for the fervently pro-Brexit wing of the ruling Conservative Party that favors a clear break with the European Union—raises the chance Mrs. May will face a formal challenge to her leadership. 

Mr. Johnson's resignation is the second high-profile departure from Mrs. May's cabinet in two days after David Davis, the minister in charge of Britain's negotiations to leave the EU, resigned overnight after deciding he couldn't support a Brexit plan agreed by the cabinet on Friday.
