SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- AT&T Inc. (T) on Tuesday reported a second-quarter profit of $3.8 billion, or 71 cents a share, on revenue of $32.1 billion, compared with earnings of $3.9 billion, or 66 cents a share, on $31.6 billion in sales, in the year-ago period. Analysts surveyed by FactSet had forecast AT&T to earn 68 cents a share on $31.8 billion in revenue. AT&T said that during the quarter, it added 551,000 postpaid wireless subscribers.
